Limor Garfinkle’s The Comedians

Based in NYC, photographer Limor Garfinkle specializes in photographing architecture and interiors, though her latest project turns the lens on a fairly different subject for a good cause. She is the founder of the upcoming event, In Focus: The Comedians, a comedy show, photo exhibition, and auction benefitting ADHD treatment.

The Comedians is a portrait series by Limor. Using broncolor lighting, she captured various comedians such as Tracy Morgan, Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, Sal Vulcano, along with 30 other comics and comedic actors such as Mindy Cohn and Margaret Colin. Along with creating beautiful portraits of each, she found inspiration.

“Comedians are brilliantly sharp and creative. There’s almost nothing I love more than to have a creative brainstorming conversation with my comedian friends. I am so inspired by them!”

Limor relies on broncolor, specifically broncolor Siros L, for its portability and power when shooting.

“[Siros L] have power and are completely portable. It gives me so much creative freedom knowing that I have reliable powerful lights to work with anywhere and under any situation. My photography style is moody and dark, and I have full control over where my light falls off with the broncolor light modifiers.”

The Comedians portrait series will be displayed and auctioned at Limor’s upcoming event, In Focus: The Comedians, on October 29 in New York City. In addition to the auction, the event features a comedy show and special guests including the comedians from the series and some comedic actors. The event raises funds and awareness for Mount Sinai’s Division of ADHD and Learning Disorders. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
